The Department of Financial Studies the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled (The role of supervisory control in Digital Financial Consumer Protection-Applied research) for the student Burak Talal Salih to obtain a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree in banks and grants its holder All rights and privileges of a master’s degree.

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the supervisory oversight tools adopted by the Central Bank of Iraq in protecting digital financial consumers by collecting field data from its employees and a sample of consumers in banks that provide digital financial services and an electronic payment company. The research problem was identified as the fact that the legal and regulatory framework in Iraq is not adequately prepared to protect the rights of digital financial consumers.

The study concluded a statistically significant impact among the dimensions of supervisory oversight on digital financial consumer protection. It also demonstrated that the current legal and legislative environment in Iraq does not keep pace with the rapid expansion of digital financial services. Existing legislative texts lack clear and explicit provisions defining the rights and duties of financial consumers in the evolving digital context.
